HughesNet now covers 5,000 Brazilian towns and cities

4 Jul 2019

Hughes Network Systems – which launched its HughesNet satellite broadband product in Brazil on 1 July 2016 – has confirmed that the service is now available in a total of 5,000 towns and cities across the country. The expanded coverage has been made possible after the successful launch of Hughes’s 63W Ka-band hosted payload on the Telstar 19 VANTAGE, which occurred in July last year. As well as Brazil, the company noted that Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru would also receive improved satellite broadband coverage, as a result of the launch. TeleTime observes that Hughes currently accounts for around 152,000 subscribers in Brazil.
