Azerfon’s LTE network coverage extended to 70% of population

Azerfon (Nar), Azerbaijan’s third largest mobile network operator (MNO) by subscribers, has announced it activated more than 50 new 3G and over 380 new 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) throughout the country in the first half of the year. The company notes Agdam, Fuzuli, Goranboy and Samukh were among the regions to receive new LTE cell towers. Azerfon now operates over 7,500 BTS nationwide providing 3G network coverage to 97.6% of the country’s population, while its 4G network is now available to 70% of population.
