ZTE supports NetCologne’s gigabit G.fast service

25 Jun 2019

China’s ZTE Corporation has announced it has supported German regional operator NetCologne to launch a commercial gigabit network over the G.fast@212MHz profile solution. The pair signed a strategic partnership deal in February 2017, under which the Chinese vendor agreed to provide NetCologne with advanced network equipment, including G.fast distribution point units (DPUs) and terminals. In April 2019 ZTE supplied the industry’s first G.fast@212MHz profile DPUs, enabling NetColgone to begin offering broadband speeds of up to 1Gbps to over 250,000 residential customers in Cologne earlier this month.

‘Providing the world’s first network on G.fast@212MHz solution is a giant technical milestone. It underlines ZTE’s leading position in broadband technologies and our aim to support NetCologne to be a leading supplier of gigabit connectivity in Germany,’ commented Sun Jie, Managing Director of ZTE Deutschland.
