Uruguay aims for 100% FTTH coverage

Uruguay’s Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Guillermo Moncecchi, has revealed that the country expects to achieve universal fibre-optic network coverage by the end of the current government’s administration next year. At present, the fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network of state-owned telecoms operator Antel covers 75% of households, while 82% of homes are connected to broadband internet, the Minister stated.
