Montenegro and Albania sign MoU on 700MHz coordination

4 Jun 2019

The Montenegrin telecoms regulator, the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (EKIP), has signed an MoU with Albania’s Audiovisual Media Authority (AMA), whereby the two bodies will step up cooperation in the area of radio frequency spectrum management harmonisation. The agreement will focus on the 700MHz band which, together with the 3.5GHz and 26GHz bands, is earmarked for the initial deployment of 5G mobile networks in Europe. The regulators expressed their readiness to intensify work to migrate Albanian digital television frequencies from the 470MHz-694MHz band in order to release the 700MHz band for use by mobile telecom networks.
