Slovenia gets EC backing for rural fibre rollout

31 May 2019

The EC’s Connecting Europe Broadband Fund (CEBF) has agreed a deal with authorities in Slovenia to invest in an open-access fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) rollout. The deployment will cover more than 240,000 homes and business in rural locations across Slovenia. The CEBF is a private equity fund set up to help fund European digital inclusion projects. It is backed by the EC, European Investment Bank (EIB), KfW Bankengruppe of Germany, Italy’s Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) and France’s Caisse des Depots et Consignations (CDC), alongside other European private investors.
