Sri Lankan news site ColomboPage reports that the agency with oversight for the country’s investment promotion programmes, the Board of Investment (BOI), has inked an agreement with Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) granting the national communication service provider rights to install telecoms equipment at 157 sites across the country. In a press release confirming the development, the BOI confirmed that independent industry watchdog the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has also rubber-stamped the plan.
Noting the supply agreement, SLT chairman P G Kumarasinghe Sirisena pointed out that in recent years the SLT group of companies has invested nearly LKR150 billion (USD757 million) in helping to facilitate National Digital infrastructure projects.
