Mobile Telecommunications (MTC), Namibia’s largest mobile network operator (MNO) by subscribers, has announced that it will officially begin the process of listing on the Namibian Stock Exchange (NSX) in June 2019. According to a company press release, the listing process will take approximately 15 months with the application scheduled for submission in February 2020, the opening date for the public offer set for March 2020 and a formal listing expected by July 2020, depending on regulatory approvals.

Meanwhile, MTC has launched new cellular network towers in the villages of Uutsathima, Onamatanga and Ehafo as part of its two-year ‘081Every1’ infrastructure development programme, announced in August 2017, to erect 524 new network boosters to improve access to fast mobile internet services in rural areas. Another twelve network sites in the Kavango West, Otjozondjupa, Omaheke, Kharas, Hardap, Omusati and Oshikoto regions are scheduled to go live before the end of May 2019.
