Vodafone’s gigabit cable network reaches 9m German homes

Vodafone Germany has expanded its gigabit cable network to Potsdam in the federal state of Brandenburg. Around 50,000 homes in the city are now able to access download speeds of up to 1Gbps, with a further 70,000 households in Cottbus, Falkensee and Konigs Wusterhausen set to be upgraded later this year.Overall, Vodafone can currently offer gigabit cable connections to nine million homes in twelve federal states and the firm is aiming to upgrade its entire cable network – passing over 12.7 million homes in 13 states – to enable top speeds of 1Gbps by 2021.
