Fiji’s Minister for Communications Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is cited as saying that mobile network operator (MNO) Vodafone Fiji plans to invest FJD207 million (USD96.6 million) to upgrade its network infrastructure to improve coverage nationwide. The minister says that the MNO has deployed coverage to 95% of the country and the upgrade work is being carried out in areas which have intermittent coverage. ‘We have got about 85 towers coming up that will see an upgrade and this will include Vanua Levu, Taveuni and we expect the Taveuni rollout to be completed in the first week of June,’ he was quoted as saying, adding that two new towers will also be built in the Rewa delta.
