NetCologne rolls out 1Gbps speeds in Cologne

Regional telecoms operator NetCologne plans to roll out connection speeds of up to 1Gbps to 20,000 households in Cologne by the end of the year. The firm is investing EUR100 million (USD112 million) in its gigabit expansion project. NetCologne, which is owned by utilities company GEW Cologne, operates predominantly in the cities of Cologne, Bonn and Aachen, and their surrounding areas and municipalities. In January 2019 the firm began expanding its 1Gbps network to 100,000 households, with work scheduled for completion by 2022.
