Consolidated revenues at full-service operator Turk Telekom increased by 15.3% year-on-year in the first three months of 2019 to TRY5.4 billion (USD874 million), helping to boost EBITDA by 34.7% y-o-y to TRY2.7 billion, with an EBITDA margin of 49.1%, which the company also attributed to ‘group synergies and improved efficiencies’. Operating profit increased by 36.4% y-o-y to TRY1.5 billion in Q1 2019, whilst CAPEX investment rose by 9.8% y-o-y to TRY637 million. The group generated TRY310 million net profit in January-March 2019 compared to TRY110 million in 1Q18.
The total number of Turk Telekom subscribers – retail/wholesale fixed broadband, telephony, mobile and pay-TV – reached 46.7 million at end-March 2019, with 737,000 net additions during the quarter and twelve-month net intake of 4.1 million. The total retail/wholesale broadband subscriber base exceeded 11.0 million with a net three-month gain of 131,000; around 70% of new subscribers came via entry-level penetration offer ‘Internet Bizden’. Q1 2019 also witnessed 575,000 net new mobile subscribers at cellular division TT Mobil (formerly Avea), reaching 22.1 million total mobile users at the end of the period (up by 2.2 million in twelve months). The post-paid mobile subscriber ratio improved by two percentage points y-o-y to 58% following 550,000 Q1 post-paid additions.
