Sonatel enters Gambia via Xoom Wireless

2 May 2019

Senegal’s Sonatel announced on its website that it has entered into an agreement for a 91.6% acquisition of Gambian ISP licensee Xoom Wireless. The acquisition is being carried out in partnership with Teranga Capital, which will take a minority stake in Xoom. The transactions are subject to approval by the Gambian authorities.

Sonatel – part of Orange Group – says it is consolidating its telecoms presence in West Africa, where outside Senegal it is already active in Mali, Guinea, Guinea Bissau and Sierra Leone.
