Globe Telecom to boost GoWifi coverage

Globe Telecom has announced plans to expand the coverage of its free Wi-Fi service, dubbed ‘GoWifi’, in urban centres across the Philippines. As of March 2019 the telco’s free GoWifi service, which provides download speeds of up to 100Mbps, was live at no fewer than 2,000 sites nationwide, up 500 year-on-year, it confirmed in a statement. In fiscal 2019, meanwhile, its ongoing expansion will focus on covering a number of health and educational institutions and retail establishments, including the following areas: VRP Medical Center along EDSA in Mandaluyong City, Qualimed (select branches), Healthserve in Los Banos, Laguna, Emilio Aguinaldo College, St Paul University, Cebu Doctors University, Araneta Center in Cubao, Robinsons Supermarket (all branches), Robinsons Department Store (select branches), Puregold (select branches) and Shopwise (select branches). Globe’s free Wi-Fi service is also available in some airports and transport lines such as the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations, it said.
