Sweden-based telecoms group Telia Company has posted first quarter sales of SEK20.85 billion (USD2.19 billion), up 5% year-on-year on a reported basis, or down 3% on a like-for-like basis when negating the effects of exchange rates, acquisitions and disposals. Adjusted EBITDA stood at SEK7.47 billion, an increase of 15% on a reported basis, or a pro forma rise of 5.8%. Excluding the positive impact of new IFRS 16 accounting standards, EBITDA dropped 4%. Net income attributable to shareholders stood at SEK1.79 billion, reversing a loss of SEK710 million in the year-ago period.
In operational terms, the group reported 23.7 million subscribers across Scandinavia and the Baltics at the end of March 2019, up from 23.0 million a year earlier, but down on the end-2018 figure of 24.0 million.
