26 Apr 2019

Russian regional full-service telco MOTIV has signed a cooperation agreement with Ericsson to prepare its cellular network to provide services based on 5G technologies via a series of joint initiatives in 2019-2020. Yekaterinburg-based MOTIV operates in four (out of six) regions of the Urals Federal District.

Under the agreement, the partners will: test and implement 4×4 MIMO, Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) and Massive MIMO for transition to LTE-A Pro; implement dynamic 2G-to-LTE spectrum redeployment solutions to prepare for new technologies in 2020; lab-test 5G RAN technologies and a batch core based on Ericsson solutions; launch 5G pilot zones on MOTIV’s commercial network; and prepare for deployment of 5G segments on the network.
