Verizon Q1 revenues up 1.1% to USD32.1bn

US telecoms giant Verizon Communications has reported total consolidated operating revenues of USD32.1 billion for the three months ended 31 March 2019, up 1.1% on an annualised basis. Meanwhile, first quarter operating income was reported at USD7.7 billion, up 4.9% from USD7.3 billion in 1Q18. Finally, net income for 1Q19 was reported at USD5.2 billion, up 10.6% compared to the USD4.7 billion generated in the year-ago period.

In operational terms, Verizon ended 1Q19 with 117.886 million wireless subscribers, 6.973 million broadband customers and 11.453 million fixed voice users. CEO Hans Vestberg commented: ‘Verizon began 2019 by extending our leadership position in 4G, driving innovation in 5G and expanding our high-valued customer relationships. 2019 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Verizon. We are leading the world in the development of new technologies with the launch of our 5G Ultra Wideband network. Our ambition remains unchanged to provide the most advanced next-generation networks in the world.’
