US telecoms giant Verizon Communications has reported total consolidated operating revenues of USD32.1 billion for the three months ended 31 March 2019, up 1.1% on an annualised basis. Meanwhile, first quarter operating income was reported at USD7.7 billion, up 4.9% from USD7.3 billion in 1Q18. Finally, net income for 1Q19 was reported at USD5.2 billion, up 10.6% compared to the USD4.7 billion generated in the year-ago period.
In operational terms, Verizon ended 1Q19 with 117.886 million wireless subscribers, 6.973 million broadband customers and 11.453 million fixed voice users. CEO Hans Vestberg commented: ‘Verizon began 2019 by extending our leadership position in 4G, driving innovation in 5G and expanding our high-valued customer relationships. 2019 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Verizon.
