UK to bar Huawei from providing 5G equipment for core network

Prime Minister Theresa May has reportedly ordered that Chinese telecoms vendor Huawei be banned from supplying core parts of any 5G network rolled out by British cellcos, following a meeting of ministers on the National Security Council (NSC). According to The Guardian, Huawei will be permitted to supply UK mobile network operators with some ‘non core’ technology, although even this concession was said to have prompted several ministers to raise concerns during the meeting.
