The Federal High Court in Lagos has dismissed a suit challenging the sale of wireless operator Emerging Markets Telecommunications Services (EMTS), which operates under the brand name 9mobile. According to The Nation, the court ruled that Spectrum Wireless Communications is not a direct shareholder in EMTS and therefore had no grounds to challenge the sale of the cellco. Spectrum Wireless Communications had sued EMTS and 16 parties, including United Capital Trustees Limited, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) over the sale of 9mobile last year.
