Orange Guinea launches 4G in Conakry

16 Apr 2019

Orange Guinea has announced the launch of its new LTE service, which is available for customers with compatible SIM cards and handsets. According to the cellco’s network coverage information, LTE is available in Conakry – Guinea’s capital and largest city – but will be extended to other regions in due course. The capital is understood to be home to around two million people, or one-sixth of the Guinean population.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, Orange was granted the country’s first 4G licence by the Regulatory Authority for Post and Telecommunications (L’Autorite de Regulation des Postes et Telecommunications, ARPT) last month. The ten-year concession also included extensions for Orange’s existing 2G and 3G licences.
