Vega permitted mobile numbering code alongside Ukrtelecom for convergence

11 Apr 2019

Ukrainian fixed telco Vega, a sister company of Ukrtelecom in the SCM group, has been issued a mobile network code (MNC) ‘09’, the telecoms regulator NCCIR confirmed. Previously, Ukrtelecom received MNC ‘08’ and is currently utilising the numbering for pilot converged fixed/wireless services in selected areas. Vega’s MNC allocation is presumed to be aimed at offering similar services.

As reported by Liga.net, the NCCIR recently adopted amendments to regulations on numbering resources allowing fixed operators to provide convergent services, whilst MNCs were previously only held by mobile operators (including Ukrtelecom’s 3G mobile subsidiary TriMob).
