A1 Telekom Austria has announced that it has connected more than 100,000 homes across the country to its fibre-optic network so far this year. The total includes around 60,000 apartments in the capital Vienna that are now covered by the firm’s fibre-to-the-building (FTTB) infrastructure, which is capable of supplying speeds of up to 1Gbps. In December last year A1 Telekom unveiled plans to roll out its fibre-optic network to a further 400,000 apartments in Vienna, enabling around 60% of the capital’s homes to access its gigabit-capable G.fast technology.
