Islamabad-based mobile operator Ufone has confirmed that its long-awaited 4G LTE network is now live, bringing it in line with domestic rivals Telenor, Zong and Jazz. Company representative Amir Pasha told The Post that Ufone has initiated 4G services in all major cities of Pakistan, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta. Coverage has yet to be extended to Karachi, however. LTE-enabled SIM cards are available from Ufone retail branches, the cellco notes on its website.
Based on the most recent statistical report by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Ufone actually switched on its 4G network in February 2019, notching up 365,185 users by 28 February. The reason for the delayed launch announcement has not been disclosed by the cellco.
