Nepal to shut down CDMA networks from 2022

8 Apr 2019

Nepal’s Radiofrequency Policy Determination Committee has decided to close CDMA networks from 2022 on the recommendation of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA). The NTA awarded 10MHz of 800MHz spectrum to Nepal Telecom (NT) for 4G LTE in February 2019, on the condition that the operator return 6MHz of airwaves after the CDMA network shutdown. At present, NT’s LTE network, which operates in the 1800MHz band, is restricted to Kathmandu and Pokhara.
