Indosat Ooredoo says that thanks to its latest expansion efforts, its LTE mobile network – branded ‘4G Plus’ – now serves 422 cities/regencies across the country, blanketing some 80% of the population. IndoTelko cites the cellco’s CEO Chris Kanter as saying that the company is committed to continuing to expand 4G network coverage this year by adding around 18,000 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) and increasing the number of BTS connected to fibre-optic networks to ‘almost 30%’. Once the additional rollouts are complete Indosat Ooredoo’s 4G network will reach 87% of the Indonesian population, he said, noting that the commitment will be supported by CAPEX of around IDR10 trillion (USD704.8 million) – more than the operator has invested in previous years.
