T-Mobile Austria is set to be rebranded in May 2019, following its transformation into a full-service fixed and mobile operator through the acquisition of cableco UPC last year. Der Standard reports that the existing T-Mobile and UPC brands will be replaced with a new name based on parent company Deutsche Telekom’s magenta ‘T’ branding. In December 2017 UK-based Liberty Global agreed to sell UPC Austria to T-Mobile Austria for an enterprise value of EUR1.9 billion (USD2.2 billion). The deal received EC approval in July last year and was completed at the end of that month. The first integrated fixed and mobile products are expected to be launched alongside the rebranding.
