Vodafone Qatar first-phase ‘GigaNet’ rollout completed in The Pearl

13 Mar 2019

Vodafone Qatar has announced completion of the rollout of its new ‘GigaNet’ high speed fibre network services for residents in The Pearl-Qatar. Having offered fibre-based services in The Pearl since 2011, the Qatari-owned company has now expanded and upgraded its fibre network to support gigabit speeds via an April 2018 agreement with United Development Company. More than 27,000 of The Pearl’s current residents and 700 businesses will benefit from Vodafone Qatar’s GigaNet services (with a further 7,000 residents/businesses to gain access in a second phase). Vodafone Qatar confirmed that GigaNet high speed internet/high quality fixed voice is now being offered, whilst GigaNet TV/entertainment and smart home services will follow. For businesses, the company says its fibre network enables ‘a large suite of business services including smart solutions, smart security and smart metering’.
