Russian national fixed line giant Rostelecom has agreed to buy Infolink, an independent ISP in the Chuvash Republic. The deal involves Rostelecom’s subsidiary Bashinformsvyaz acquiring 100% of Infolink and associated company SvyazStroy-21. Infolink has operated telecoms services in regional capital Cheboksary and nearby Novocheboksarsk for over 20 years and provides internet over its own fibre transmission network plus pay-TV via cable/IPTV. It serves around 25,000 households and 2,000 corporate clients in Cheboksary, claiming around 12% of the city’s internet access market, with revenues of over RUB200 million (USD3 million) in 2018.
