Dark Fibre Africa expands to Zimbabwe

5 Mar 2019

Dark Fibre Africa (DFA) is opening a business in Zimbabwe, with plans to deploy metropolitan and long-distance backbone networks which it will lease to third-party providers. The expansion to Zimbabwe marks the firm’s first foray outside of its home market of South Africa. Agence Ecofin cites Vino Govender, Head of Strategy, M&A and Innovation at DFA, as saying: ‘We have deployed network infrastructure in all major metropolitan areas in South Africa and have expanded our footprint to cities and towns, representing more than 13,000km of fibre-optics. Our entry to Zimbabwe is part of the strategic commitment to grow in sub-Saharan markets and other African markets.’
