Dennis Uy’s Udenna Corp, part of the Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company (Mislatel) consortium which has secured approval to be the country’s New Major Player (NMP), has reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Grid Corp of the Philippines (NGCP) to allow it to use the latter’s fibre-optic facilities. Local press note that the MOU confirms Udenna’s intention to carry out a joint study to assess the feasibility of the NMP’s use of NGCP’s facilities. ‘This is in line with the consortium’s resolve to achieve its committed level of speed and coverage as the new player in the Philippine telecommunications industry,’ Udenna said in a statement.
