Iran’s Telecommunication Infrastructure Company (TIC) says it plans to install a further 14,000km of fibre-optic network over the next two months to take the total length of its infrastructure to 84,000km. A report from the Tehran Times says that the state-operated organisation is carrying out the project to improve the reach of its networks, which are utilised by third-party service providers. The company’s managing director, Sadeq Abbasi Shahkouh, is quoted as saying that the capacity of IP networks in Iran has increased threefold over the past ten months.
