Ooredoo takes Massive MIMO upgrade to Sohar and Sur

1 Feb 2019

Ooredoo Oman is rolling out its Massive MIMO technology upgrade to the cities of Sohar and Sur, in preparation for the deployment of 5G. Last month the firm enhanced its LTE home broadband service with Massive MIMO at 14 sites in Muscat, Al Batinah, Al Wusta, Sharqiya, Dahira and Dakhliah.

‘We are swiftly moving towards introducing Oman to new and innovative services including IoT and smart city initiatives, helping our communities’ transition to the digital age. The future lies in 5G and this upgrade will equip our ‘Home Internet’ customers with a superior online experience. We want to keep more people in more places connected and giving them an opportunity to enjoy the internet, with better surfing, streaming, sharing and more,’ commented Ooredoo’s acting CTO Ahmed Al Abri.
