British mobile network operator (MNO) O2 UK has announced that customers on the Isle of Unst – the northernmost of the inhabited British Isles – now have access to 4G as part of its ongoing investment in Scotland. According to the MNO, the Shetland Isles location is one of 366 areas where it has rolled out 4G in Scotland over the last twelve months, helping to lift its LTE network footprint to a total of 2,387 cities, towns, villages and hamlets across the country. Looking ahead, O2 UK has said that over the next year it aims to connect a further 72 Scottish communities to its 4G network, in the process raising indoor coverage levels throughout Scotland to 94.6%.
