Salt inks 5G rollout deal with Nokia

30 Jan 2019

Swiss provider Salt has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Finnish vendor Nokia to upgrade its radio and mobile core network, improving its existing 3G and 4G platforms and allowing it to launch 5G services. Specifics of the agreement were not disclosed, however, although Salt has previously outlined plans to launch 5G services by 2020.

Commenting on the agreement, President of Mobile Networks at Nokia Tommi Uitto was quoted as saying: ‘Our 5G Future X network architecture enables Salt to modernise its network and support existing 3G subscribers as well as the growing demands for 4G while dramatically expanding, securing and diversifying its service offering for both consumers and industries with the launch of 5G.’
