Openreach names next eleven locations for FTTP rollout

28 Jan 2019

British infrastructure operator Openreach, part of the BT Group, has revealed the next locations which will benefit from its ongoing fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) rollout this year, ISPreview reports. Unlike previous FTTP coverage expansion announcements where the company has named just a single area to be covered, this time it has confirmed a total of eleven locations where fibre will be rolled out, namely: Bury, Barking & Dagenham, Bexley, Croydon, Greater Glasgow, Harrow, Merton, Redbridge, Richmond upon Thames, Salford and Sutton Coldfield.

In addition, for the first time Openreach has also revealed plans to publish information on its website detailing its build plans for the next twelve months, including the total number of exchange areas to be reached in each location. Further, it will also publish details of the specific exchanges where FTTP is currently being built, has already been built, or it intends to start building within the next three months, with all data to be reviewed on a quarterly basis.
