Cgates, Lithuania’s second largest fixed broadband operator by subscribers, has revealed that it has started the acquisition of smaller rival Splius. Predominantly operating in northern and western Lithuania, Splius provides fixed broadband, telephony and TV services over cable and fibre-optic networks. The firm was established in 1994 and has built up a presence in Siauliai, Radviliskis, Kursenai, Joniskis, Kelmes, Pasvalys, Naujoji Akmene and Klaipeda. The deal will add around 90,000 new subscribers to Cgates’ existing digital TV, fixed telephony and fibre-optic broadband customer base of more than 250,000.
The completion of the transaction is subject to the approval of the Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania.
