C Spire, PHAZR reveal mmWave 5G launch in Mississippi

28 Jan 2019

US regional operator C Spire and its vendor partner PHAZR have confirmed that they have quietly launched a 5G millimetre wave (mmWave) fixed-wireless service in a Harrison County subdivision near the city of Gulfport. The 5G cell site, which uses the 28GHz band, went live last month and currently serves a community called Landon Place. Going forward, PHAZR and C Spire say that they are partnering to develop affordable mmWave solutions using 5G client devices and base stations to extend the telco’s reach. C Spire President Stephen Bye notes that residents connected to the new service have experienced download speeds of up to 750Mbps and upload speeds of 600Mbps since connecting to the network.
