MTC extends 3G network to rural areas

Mobile Telecommunications (MTC), Namibia’s largest mobile network operator (MNO) by subscribers, has announced that it has begun to extend its 3G network to rural areas of the country, reports Xinhuanet. A total of 111 cell sites have been set up by MTC nationwide in an effort to cover 100% of the country with its mobile network. MTC’s Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer, Tim Ekandjo said: ‘We are determined to reach all persons in rural areas by the end of this year.’ Ekandjo added that MTC plans to set up a total of 524 rural towers over the course of 2019.
