President Duterte renews Innove Communications’ telecoms franchise

President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines has officially signed into law the operating franchise of Innove Communications, a wholly owned subsidiary of mobile, broadband and fixed network operator Globe Telecom. GMA News notes that the president signed Republic Act 11151 on 14 December 2018, which was set to take effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation. ‘The term of the franchise granted under Republic Act No. 7372 is hereby renewed for another 25 years from the date of its expiration. This franchise shall be deemed ipso facto revoked in the event that the grantee fails to operate continuously for two years,’ Republic Act 11151 confirmed.

Formerly known as Isla Communications Company, Innove Communications offers voice, fixed line telecommunications and high speed data services to individuals and enterprises.
