Lumos, Spirit merged to form SEGRA

15 Jan 2019

US telcos Lumos Networks and Spirit Communications have announced that they have been integrated and rebranded as SEGRA. In April 2018, Swedish investor EQT Partners completed the purchase of a majority stake in Spirit Communications and announced it would combine the Spirit assets with Lumos – which it had previously acquired for USD950 million in November 2017. Since that time, the two companies have integrated operations, have expanded their fibre-optic networks and made further investments in existing and new markets across nine states in the mid-Atlantic and south-east. Notable new markets include Raleigh, Greensboro and Fayetteville in North Carolina. The company’s Rural Local Exchange Carrier (RLEC) segment will retain the Lumos Networks name, however.
