Oman’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has finalised all the procedures for the renewal of the Class 1 mobile telecoms licences of Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) and Ooredoo Oman. In separate notices to the Muscat Securities Market, Omantel said it has renewed its concession for a period of 15 years – commencing on 11 February 2019 – for a cost of OMR75 million (USD194 million), while Ooredoo revealed that its licence has also been extended for 15 years – valid from February 2020 – at a price of OMR75 million. The two permits include all spectrum currently allocated to the two operators, but exclude 5G spectrum.
