Spanish regional operator Euskaltel Group has revealed plans to extend the scope of its services, by entering a number of new markets outside of its legacy footprint. The cableco – which currently serves the Basque Autonomous Community (via Euskaltel), Galicia (via R Cable) and Asturias (via Telecable) – aims to reach more than one million new homes this year. In Leon and Cantabria the company will launch using its R brand, in Navarra and La Rioja it will use the Euskaltel brand, and in Catalonia the company will operate as RACCtel+ (a collaboration with insurance company RACC). All areas have been selected on account of their geographical proximity to the existing footprint, while the Leon and Cantabria services will leverage a fibre wholesale deal with Orange Espana, which covers some 200,000 homes. The group expects to capture 90,000 new customers over the next four years as a result of its expansion plan.
