State-owned telco Telekom Srbija – which operates under the MTS brand – has continued its acquisition spree with takeovers of local cableco rivals Radijus Vektor and AVcom for an undisclosed sum, b92 reports, citing Internet and Multimedia Director Valdimir Lucic in an interview with Blic. The two operators will add 120,000 (Radjus Vektor) and 18,000 (AVcom) new broadband and TV subscribers to MTS’s user base. The purchases follow on from the telco’s acquisition of Kopernikus Technology in November 2018 and the takeover of Blicnet by its Bosnian division Telekom Sprske (m:tel) the previous month, alongside a controversial bid for Telkom Albania the same month. Mr Lucic notes that the company is in negotiations to buy another five small providers within the first quarter of 2019. The official stressed that the telco has used its own funds rather than public money to finance the acquisitions.
