Etterbeek municipality sells cable network to Telenet

3 Jan 2019

The Belgian municipality of Etterbeek has sold its cable network to Telenet, following an invitation to tender. Telenet has been offering telecommunications services in Etterbeek since 1997 as a subcontractor, paying an annual fee. After its contract ended on 31 December 2018, Etterbeek decided to sell its cable network and Telenet took the opportunity to become the owner of this network. The move fits in with Telenet’s aim to have more control over its end-to-end services and follows the company’s investment strategy in Brussels, with the extra investment meaning that Telenet will be the owner of all cable infrastructure in the capital.
