5G licences expected by 2021; VAT on fixed services cut to 7%

2 Jan 2019

The Tunisian government expects to issue 5G licences in 2021 and will allow operators to stagger their payments to ensure a faster rollout, Tunis Afrique Presse writes, citing Minister of Technologies Communication and Digital Economy Anouar Maarouf. The official noted that the technology would help provide access to download speeds of up to 10Gbps.

In another development, meanwhile, VAT paid on fixed telephony and broadband services in Tunisia will drop from 19% to 7% this month. The reduction was included in the Finance Act 2019, which was passed in December last year.
