Irish wholesale broadband provider SIRO has announced that Sky Ireland has been added to the list of retail partners offering fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband over its infrastructure. In a press release confirming the development, SIRO claimed that Sky’s decision to offer services powered by its network would support the former’s roadmap for increased on-demand content services, which require high broadband bandwidth requirements.
Commenting, SIRO chief executive John Keaney said: ‘We are extremely proud of our partnership with Sky which is another milestone in SIRO’s mission to enable Ireland’s Gigabit Society. The seal of approval by SKY, Europe’s largest entertainment company, is testament to the quality of our network … Sky customers, who can begin placing orders from today, are guaranteed the best broadband in Ireland.’
In announcing the new partnership deal, SIRO noted that its network is now live in 30 towns across the country, with ten retailers offering connections to over 200,000 homes and businesses. Alongside Sky Ireland, the wholesale operators other retail partners are: Vodafone Ireland, Digiweb, BT, Carnsore Broadband, Rocket Broadband, Kerry Broadband, eNet, Airwire and WestNet.
