21 Dec 2018

Mexican telecoms watchdog the Federal Telecommunications Institute (Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones, IFT) has issued Telefonos de Mexico (Telmex) a fine of MXN2.54 billion (USD127 million) for an alleged breach of minimum quality norms for dedicated link services in 2013 and 2014, parent company America Movil (AM) said in a regulatory filing. AM rejected the regulator’s claim and stated it would challenge the decision, adding: ‘This illegal and disproportionate fine affects the legal certainty in a sector that requires important investments for its development’.
