Indonesian mobile operator and fledgling fixed broadband provider XL Axiata has teamed up with over-the-top (OTT) platform Eros Now as the India-based media platform owned by Eros Digital looks to increase its presence in the country. Having recently launched its XL Home entertainment and fibre-optic internet offering, XL Axiata – part of the Axiata Group – is taking advantage of Eros Now’s library of over 11,000 films, original shows and music videos to provide OTT content to end users. Eros Now entered the Indonesian broadcast space in September 2018 via a distribution partnership with Xiaomi’s Mi TV. For its part, XL Axiata, which offers voice, SMS/MMS/VAS and mobile data services to more than 93% of the Indonesian population and serves a subscriber base of some 53.9 million, will now offer them a monthly video subscription based on the Eros Now platform, which was first launched in India in 2012, for IDR26,000 (USD1.79) per month, or an annual subscription of IDR260,000.
