Unitymedia switches on gigabit network in Dusseldorf

German cableco Unitymedia has announced the launch of its new gigabit broadband service in Dusseldorf in North Rhine-Westphalia. The firm has implemented DOCSIS 3.1 technology on the new high-speed network, which is available to around 320,000 households from launch. TeleGeography notes that Dusseldorf is the third German city to receive Unitymedia’s 1Gbps service, following launches in Bochum in May and Frankfurt in October.
