MTN Rwanda considering IPO

14 Nov 2018

MTN Rwanda says it is mulling a sale of shares to help raise funds for its network expansion. A report from Tech Central cites the telco’s chief financial officer Diatile Lily Zondo as saying that an initial public offer (IPO) is under consideration, though unlike some African markets such as Nigeria and Uganda, there is no pressure from regulators to list shares locally. MTN Rwanda is also seeking funding from lenders, having approached a consortium of eight banks earlier this month to secure a loan of RWF50 billion (USD56.4 million).
